If you pick up the latest Discerning Bride magazine you will come across two of our weddings - Marie + Fabio and Cindi + David. Two very different style weddings however equally beautiful. We provided these couples with different planning services...

We come onboard at the later stages of Marie + Fabio's wedding as their Wedding Day Coordinator. This beautiful wedding was held at MODA Portside in September 2011 on the night of Riverfire. We helped them pull together their runsheet, tied up loose ends and were onsite on the day ensuring the room looked beautiful and the day ran smoothly.

Cindi + David's wedding held at the Topiaries at Beaumont, Stamford took on a 1920's Shanghai feel. We worked with Cindi + David from the very beginning. From finding the venue, getting them connected to the right wedding suppliers and being their on the day to ensure the day was seamless.

Christmas Soiree

Here are some images from a table setting we designed for a intimate Christmas Eve Soiree. We wanted to steer away from the traditional Christmas green + red tones and infuse some more modern vibrant + rustic elements into the table setting. The yellow chevron runner + napkins + lemons added a modern twist. Whilst the silver accents gave the table a Christmas feel. And no table is complete without the traditional pine cone! We love this Christmas table setting!

As much as we have loved planning and styling vintage inspired weddings we are anticipating to see a new take on the "VINTAGE WEDDING". A more detailed and carefully curated style with less clutter has emerged. Say good-bye to rustic vintage and hello to old world glamour meets new world sophistication!

Formality is where it's at for design and atmosphere, in 2012 while continuing to incorporate family heirlooms and traditions but you will see less mason jars, tins, vintage suitcases, mis-matched chairs and typewriters.

Regal style is the new flavour infused with rich textures, lots of white (and even some metallics) set in grand traditional settings. Bright, bold colours such as Pantone's SOLAR POWER YELLOW and MARGARITA GREEN are particular favourites of ours along with teals, greys and blush tones which are being seen in the latest craze of colour blocking and ombre techniques.

The hottest trends on designer catwalks are lace, colour, illusion necklines, double tiered skirts and extreme texture with glimmers of embroidered florals and sleeves.

For those of you with a sweet tooth lolly bars are out and dessert tables are in. We've seen gorgeous little structured desserts presented in glasses which would make even the most savoury of tastebuds water, icing sugar dusted doughnuts filled with jam, simply stylishly handmade cookies and the ruffled cake is making quite a sensation.

Bring on 2012 we can't wait to see the Regal style explode onto the wedding scene!

What to do with 1000 cranes?

It is good luck in the Japanese culture to fold 1000 cranes before your wedding day and that is exactly what Mayumi + Steven did!

These cranes formed a beautiful crane shower at the couple's wedding. Japanese was also infused in the bon bons. A beautiful Sake Box housed the yummy macaroon which were tied together by traditional Japanese ribbon.

The outdoor riverside ceremony and courtyard reception were filled with pretty vintage touches.

Haute Hippie!

We have been really loving boho-hippie chic lately. Could it be the next big style trend we see on the wedding scene....we hope so! After spending the weekend in Byron Bay we have been so inspired and thought we'd share some of our ideas. We see visions of delicate daisy chains and feathered head dresses. Big unstructured bouquets of hand picked flowers straight from a field and masses of candlelight hanging from Moroccan style lanterns. Gypsy style feasts placed upon American Indian patterned rugs, decked out plush deep coloured cushions and mis-matched treasured wares. Style wise if you are wanting that flowing, whimsical touch think uber-boho queen Nicole Richie or perhaps you might like the edgier wild child, psychedelic goddess look of Kate Moss either way we think this is an awesome and unique twist on the already booming vintage look.

Here are some of the wedding trends white+white are loving right now...

Slate grey for groom and groomsmen - Grey suits are a relaxed twist on the traditional grooms look.

Mix matched bridesmaid dresses - Bridesmaids dresses no longer need to be uniform. Change things up a bit by changing the styles or even using different colours that will tie in with the rest of your wedding.

Photo booths/props - More and more weddings are having photo booths as a fun option. Mix it up with fun props and watch the fun unfold.

Turquoise touches - Be bold and choose statement colours to focus your wedding around. Turquoise is a very popular colour at the moment and will give your wedding that wow factor.

Garden themed - The country garden wedding look has been making a huge splash in the wedding scene lately. Go for wild flowers in vases, wooden furniture and soft colours.

With many aspects of a wedding heavily favoured around the bride, todays blog is all about the groom and his groomsmen.

Cigar Bars are an absolute favourite of ours, they add a unique, classy old fashioned flair to a wedding reception and are a little something for the lads!

Bring in a cigar roller to work throughout the reception making cigars for your guests or bring in a few cigar humidors displaying a variety of different cigars, almost like you would a lolly buffet.

Add some old books and a bowl of custom made matchbooks and cigars with your names and wedding date on them along with a bottle or two of brandy or scotch with some old fashion glasses and flasks.

If you want to go all out why not create a men's lounge or even have an attendant there to assist guests in selecting and preparing the cigars.

Real Wedding - Emily + Tim

white+white were lucky enough to be part of Emily + Tim's winter wedding, which was held in June this year.

It was a glorious winter's day. Just enough cloud coverage for perfect photos however not enough to take the shine out of the day.

Emily (the happiest person you will ever meet) married her beau Tim overlooking the Brisbane River.

The noon ceremony was followed by an amazing degustation (trust me Amazing!) lunch at Moda restaurant.

The pretty flowers were by Bouquet Boutique.

The five course degustation lunch matched with wines was displayed on yummy personalised menus created by the talented Anna from Invite with Style.

The delightful floral centrepieces doubled as guests presents (with a personalised note attached).

Real Wedding - Freya + Brendan

Nagomi was the home to Freya + Brendan's Asian inspired wedding in February this year. The riverside setting and the amazing Japanese food made for a magical evening.

The ceremony was held in front of the restaurant at Eagle St Pier overlooking the Brisbane River.

The ceremony included a special rope tying ritual. Thank you Sally for guiding the ceremony so beautifully.

Hundreds of origami cranes, folded by Freya and her girlfriends, featured throughout the reception styling.

The cherry blossom cake was a sweet touch to the asian theme. Made by Jade at Cakestar.

The Princess Party

w+w were lucky enough to be involved with the amazing Princess Party at Mirra, this year.

The Party, an initiative of the Amira Project (www.theamiraproject.com), was a night of inspiration, information and fun times designed to enhance the lives of young women at risk.

Here's what happened...

Once registered, the girls were all given balloons and ushered to the SHINE workshop. Here they were able to make friendship bracelets, write down their wishes and dreams and also messages of hope to girls living in the She Rescue Home in Cambodia.

Make-up and hair were on hand to get the girls looking fantastic for the night ahead.

The SHINE workshop concluded with a huge balloon release where each girl released their balloon with their dream attached.

The girls were then escorted to their seat by strapping young men, who also presented each of them with a flower.

The girls were then seated along beautiful vintage inspired long banquet tables for a scrumptious two course dinner.

During dinner the girls were serenaded by Scotty Fields and inspired by two wonderful speakers who uplifted and motivated them with their stories.

After dinner the girls partied away to Jamie Lee before all being given goody bags filled with an assortment of gifts as they left.

What an amazing night!

Crane Craze

The tradition of 1,000 Origami cranes has been a wedding tradition for many years. Folding a crane takes time, patience and understanding. It is believed that a man and woman who can fold 1,000 paper cranes together have enough practise and trust to sustain a happy marriage as these same qualities are vital for a marriage to last and thrive. Some believe in the tradition of giving 1,000 cranes, they do this to wish the couple a thousand years of happiness and prosperity.

Crane curtains create a whimsical mood for a wedding ceremony.

Use cranes to decorate your wedding cake or even use them as cupcake toppers...cute!

You could incorporate your colour palette and only make cranes in those colours.

Strands of floating cranes make a stunning backdrop to your wedding reception, bridal table or cake table.

An origami crane seating chart would be a fantastic piece to tie your ceremony and reception together.

Guests could write there wishes and words of wisdom on the cranes and hang on a wishing tree for the couple to read.

Origami boutonnieres for the groom and his bridal party.

Origami place cards doubling as favours for your guests.

Birdcages or clear vessels filled with paper cranes as table centrepieces.

The cranes can become the central theme in your wedding styling or be an individual feature piece for your guests to marvel at either way the symbolism of 1,000 hand-folded paper cranes is very beautiful and quite powerful plus they are a wonderful styling idea. New twist on Vintage trend

Vintage styling has always been a popular theme in wedding trends in recent years. Lately we are beginning to see new ideas emerge as vintage style really comes into its own.

Here are the new trends in vintage we see happening over the next 12 months.

Mix 'n' match table shapes and sizes, chairs, linens and vessels.

Keep colors organic and natural, think shades of charcoal, lavender, silver peony, oyster and shell.

Grey is definitely the new black for 2011 while navy blue and deep colors such as honeysuckle are also making waves this year.

We will continue to see the use of fashionable props such as birdcages, typewriters, books, and old window frames in amongst more of a warm, comfortable home like feel.

Say goodbye bunting and polka dots and hello to all things lace, crocheted and cross stitched.

Keep furnishings simple with large wooden banquet style tables, stools, benches or even old cinema chairs.

Ceramic jugs and large pitchers filled with flowers fresh from the garden or glass jars or bottles with individual flower stems can tie in with that mismatched and simple feel.

Real Wedding - Christine + Justin

We had the lovely pleasure of coordinating Christine and Justin's Wedding late last year. The beautiful rain meant the original garden ceremony at Mt Cootha Botanical Gardens had to be abandoned and the newly renovated Botanical Restaurant was to be the new home for couple's nuptials.

The wedding celebrations continued at the Terrace, State Library commonly known as the 'Tea Cup' room (where Chinese tea cups surround the room). Fish bowls filled with gorgeous garden flowers lined the two long banquet tables. An abundance of tea light candles added to the intimacy and romance of the day.

Photos of the Bride and Groom as young children featured on the tables.

Along with menus and seedings for all the guests.

Royal Wedding Trends

While the big day has passed, the effects of the Royal Wedding are going to linger for quite some time. At white+white we believe Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding is sure to set trends for years to come. Here is our list of wedding trend predictions from the unique elements of the Royal Wedding that look set to become big hits.

1. Fascinators and hats

Fascinators and hats have been a longstanding tradition at weddings and can be the perfect accessory to finish off your outfit in style.

2. All white bridal parties

Kate's sister and Maid of Honour Pippa's dress may inspire more bride's to put their bridal parties in white for a clean, sophisticated look. There is nothing that says the bridal party can't be in white, it looks elegant and classic.

3. Adorable flower girls & page boys

It's a royal tradition to have a bridal party full of young children with ties to the couple. Most of all they are just incredibly cute in their wedding attire.

4. Demure wedding dresses with sleeves

The biggest takeaway from the royal wedding is the dress! The fitted lace bodice and fuller skirt will definitely become a huge trend. It's already something we've been seeing in the likes of designs from Romona Keveza and Monique L'Hullier.

5. DYI make up

Maybe you don't quite feel like yourself after having your makeup professionally done. Why not take professional makeup classes and do it yourself like Kate did.

6. Relaxed wedding hair/ jewelled tiaras

This hairstyle will be a very big trend that will be emulated. Especially for those brides that want to wear their long hair down but are torn between wanting to look more dressed up and elegant but still want to feel like themselves, Kate did this relaxed do with striking style. While you may not want to run out and buy a huge tiara be inspired by Kate's princess style by wearing some hair bling such as jewelled headbands and hairclips.

7. Greenery/Keeping it local

The environmentally conscious royal couple decked out Westminster Abbey with Maple trees lining the aisle to create an avenue feel with the understanding the trees would be replanted. Everything was locally sourced reinforcing the importance of supporting local vendors and doing what was right for the environment. Trends that we have been seeing are bride's wanting to bring the outside in and Kate was no different, it looked like the Abbey had sprouted a forest overnight. Kate's understated bouquet were painstakingly chosen for their meaning not for their size. The bouquet included Sweet William, Lily- of- the- Valley (the return of happiness), hyacinth (constancy of love) and ivy (for fidelity, marriage and affection). Myrtle was also included in the arrangement from plants grown from the sprigs of the bridal bouquets of Queens Victoria and Queens Elizabeth.

8. An all day event

Traditionally, British weddings are held in the morning followed by a brunch or lunch reception. We can definitely see couples adopting morning ceremonies followed by two receptions and late night partying. After all an all day affair is the perfect opportunity to change dresses ladies!

9. Charity registries

Prince William and Kate Middleton requested charity donations in lieu of wedding gifts. Twenty-six different charities close to their hearts benefited from this cause. A charity registry is a great idea for couples who enjoy giving back and don't have a need for an extra toaster. Think of how great you'll feel knowing your guest's gifts are benefiting those in need.

10. Coloured gemstone engagement rings and yellow gold

Yellow gold is definitely making a come back!

11. Streaming wedding nuptials

The ultra-modern royal couple streamed their nuptials on YouTube. This is a great idea for any couple throwing a destination wedding.

12. Keeping it personal

The most important thing to remember and the biggest "trend" to takeaway from this royal wedding is to "KEEP IT PERSONAL!" Kate and Will put their personal stamp on everything from Kate's earrings she received from her parents, to how they personalised their vows, right down to registering for a charity.

Last year we showed you Jen's vision board. After 12 months of vigorous planning, the arrival of little Lucy and many coffee meetings on racecourse road, Jen's wedding vision came to fruition. ‎1920's Shanghai infused with Western traditions was the underlying style theme for Cindi + David's Wedding. David is a professional drum player, Cindi favourite colours are red and turquoise and both love cats. So we tried to incorporate all these loves into the day as well. Set in the beautiful countryside in Samford, Cindi + David's wedding day included traditional Chinese door games, tea ceremony, a western ceremony followed by a sit down reception.

I love this vintage inspired wedding I coordinated last year.

Mel, the beautiful Bride styled the wedding herself. From the colourful balloon bouquets, retro school chairs, playful bunting, heart shaped cushions to the fun games at the riverside ceremony.

Colourful lanterns, long banquet tables with fresh seasonal flowers, vintage plates, the photo booth, vodka bar, vespa bike, the yummy lolly buffet and the cute cupcake cake were all part of the fun wedding vibe at this cool urban warehouse home to Blue Sky Coffee.

REAL WEDDINGS - Karen + James

This week I am showcasing Karen and James’s wedding which took place in August this year. This wedding was like no other I had done before. Two ceremonies and two receptions on the one day!

Karen looked amazing in her “Darb” dress (James you looked pretty spunky too!) Karen’s dreamy bouquet was made from the talented Roberta at Green & Bloom.

The day began at Bretts Wharf. The happy couple tied the knot in front of 200 guests on the lawn. Whilst guests enjoyed some culinary delights and refreshing drinks on a beautiful winter’s day, Karen and James amongst close family took part in the traditional tea ceremony.

The evening festivities kicked off at Gustos Restaurant at Portside. The black and white stripped linen and styling from Jodie from W.Edding & Co. made the room pop.

The delightful individual cakes were made by Contemporary Cakes and Catering.

Moda + Polo Club Wedding Shoot

A handful of Brisbane's leading wedding specialists came together earlier this year to work on a collaborative Wedding project.

The Wedding shoot was the brainchild of Alex & Andrew of Kwintowski photography. Alex and Andrew were lucky enough to have a past bride and groom Megan and Andrew who jumped at the chance of recreating their Big Day all over again.

The shoot took place at the Brisbane Polo Club, Moda and the Gallery of Modern Art Lawn.

REAL WEDDINGS - Sarah + Budhi

This week I am showcasing Sarah and Budhi’s magical wedding. This grand affair took place over the Easter long weekend at the Gallery of Modern Art. Marcus Bell from Studio Impressions was the talented photographer behind these gorgeous images. Enjoy!

The dress was from the one and only DARB and featured a French lace-frilled bodice and full tulle skirt.

Sarah's fresh seasonal garden bouquet was made by the lovely Emma at Habitat Flowers. The bridesmaids wore black strapeless ruffled dresses from Kookai.

Budhi and his rock star brothers striking a pose (Budhi comes from a family of 10!).

The ceremony took place under a marquee on Maiwar Green next to the Gallery of Modern Art. Guests sat on white leather bench seats. Two urns filled with white cherry blossoms and magnolia leaves flanked the latte isle. A chandelier hang behind the B&G.

The B&G and bridal party danced down the aisle to “You’re My Best Friend” by Queen.

The pre-reception shoot was held around the grounds surrounding the Gallery of Modern Art. This architecturally acclaimed building is a photographer‘s dream location and has become a hotspot amoungst Brisbane wedding couples.

80 guests dined from one long banquet style table positioned in the centre of GOMA’s roof top terrace. Long mirrors, carnation balls and black tall vases of seasonal white flowers lined the table.

White napkins tied together by a black ribbon and diamontee sat over silver base plates. A white gloss dance floor stood at one end of the room whilst a white gloss dance floor with a silver ball chandelier stood at the other. Chill out lounges were positioned throughout the terrace.

The table was styled by the talented Jodie from W.Edding & Co.

The black and white vintage inspired cake was made by Ideas in Icing.

Guests danced the night away with tunes from Swing Central.

New urban space for the Modern Bride

Super 8 film has arrived!

What is Super 8? Have you seen Tori Spelling’s wedding film? Mmm probably not, unless you are a closet fan like myself. Super 8 film can be described as old world glamour meets modern day wedding. REAL WEDDINGS - Angie + Anthony

As autumn is slipping away from us I thought I would share with you Angie + Anthony’s autumn inspired wedding I planned last year.

I had so much fun planning this wedding. The theme was “Canadian Thanksgiving”. Having just returned from the States myself I was able to draw on what I had seen and experienced and incorporated this into the wedding stationary, menu, styling, florals and bon bons.

The wedding also had an international flavour to it. The bride was from Canada (hence the Canadian thanksgiving theme), the groom from Australia and they met and live in the Cayman Islands. These three distinctive cultures were also incorporated into the wedding.

Here are my favourite bits -

Bouquets

Angie’s and her bridesmaid’s bouquets were delicious! Autumn inspired florals made up their bouquets. Roses, pomponii gerbera's (the Bride’s favourite), freesia, orchids and berries in reds, oranges, browns, greens and pink tones.

Order of service booklets

The order of service booklets were very cute. These bite size booklets incorporated the same fonts, colours, look and feel as the invitations.

Pew ends

The autumn inspired pew ends were made up of orchids, berries and willow tied together with brown satin ribbon lined the latte aisle.

Table styling

The reception featured three long banquet tables covered in brown satin linen and brown tiffany chairs. An abundance of tea lights, colourful gerbera arrangements, autumn inspired blooms and wrought iron pumpkin and pear candle holders adorned the tables. The tables were styled by by W.Edding & Co.

Personalised menu/receipe book

Each guest received their own personalised menu and recipe book containing all the recipes from the Australian, Canadian and Cayman Island cuisine that was served throughout the evening.

Cake

I have saved the best for last –the cake.It was the yummiest cake I have ever tasted ...and I have tasted ALOT of wedding cake in my time. The three tier pumpkin spice (the bride’s favourite flavour) cake was covered in ivory frosting and colourful gerberas and roses. Yum yum yum!

Keeping with the autumn theme, the bon bons were Aspen leaf shaped cookies with a thank you tag attached.
