REAL WEDDINGS - Angie + Anthony

As autumn is slipping away from us I thought I would share with you Angie + Anthony’s autumn inspired wedding I planned last year.

I had so much fun planning this wedding. The theme was “Canadian Thanksgiving”. Having just returned from the States myself I was able to draw on what I had seen and experienced and incorporated this into the wedding stationary, menu, styling, florals and bon bons.

The wedding also had an international flavour to it. The bride was from Canada (hence the Canadian thanksgiving theme), the groom from Australia and they met and live in the Cayman Islands. These three distinctive cultures were also incorporated into the wedding.

Here are my favourite bits -

Bouquets

Angie’s and her bridesmaid’s bouquets were delicious! Autumn inspired florals made up their bouquets. Roses, pomponii gerbera's (the Bride’s favourite), freesia, orchids and berries in reds, oranges, browns, greens and pink tones.

Order of service booklets

The order of service booklets were very cute. These bite size booklets incorporated the same fonts, colours, look and feel as the invitations.

Pew ends

The autumn inspired pew ends were made up of orchids, berries and willow tied together with brown satin ribbon lined the latte aisle.

Table styling

The reception featured three long banquet tables covered in brown satin linen and brown tiffany chairs. An abundance of tea lights, colourful gerbera arrangements, autumn inspired blooms and wrought iron pumpkin and pear candle holders adorned the tables. The tables were styled by by W.Edding & Co.

Personalised menu/receipe book

Each guest received their own personalised menu and recipe book containing all the recipes from the Australian, Canadian and Cayman Island cuisine that was served throughout the evening.

Cake

I have saved the best for last –the cake.It was the yummiest cake I have ever tasted ...and I have tasted ALOT of wedding cake in my time. The three tier pumpkin spice (the bride’s favourite flavour) cake was covered in ivory frosting and colourful gerberas and roses. Yum yum yum!

Keeping with the autumn theme, the bon bons were Aspen leaf shaped cookies with a thank you tag attached.

Photography & filming

These great images were taken by Vivid Photography. The day was beautifully captured by the talented team at Net Productions. This trailer gives me goose bumps every time I watch it!

PS.

The Partridges will soon hear the pitter patter of little feet. Angie and Anthony are expecting their first child later this year.

Winter Wedding - Why Not?

Winter is fast approaching. Despite the chilly mornings we are truly blessed with the most gorgeous winter days. So that has prompted me to think...why don’t Brisbane couples get married in winter?

I have devised a list of compelling reasons that just may change your mind about winter weddings.

Less chance of rain – One of the biggest fears my Brides face is rain on their wedding day. Brisbane winters experience less rain than the popular wedding months.

Choice of venue – No need to wait 12 or even 18 months for your perfect venue to become available. Having a wedding in winter will allow you more flexibility to choose your number one wedding venue.

Good lighting - Winter provides perfect lighting for photos and filming.

Venue and vendor discounts – Winter is a notoriously slow period for wedding venues and vendors so they are often more than happy to offer couples some great discounts.

Flower power – Flowers will last longer and maintain their form throughout the big day.

Lunchtime wedding – Those perfect, fine, dry days are the perfect combination to hosting an outdoor lunchtime wedding ceremony and reception.

Boys don’t sweat it – Men can be more comfortable in formal attire during the cooler months.

Avoid make–up meltdowns - The high humidity in the summer months can often cause make-up to melt away before your very eyes. A winter day will leave your face looking fresh and flawless.

Ideal Island honeymoon weather – Avoid the cyclonic island weather and book your honeymoon in winter!

No bridal wars – The chance of clashes with your BFF’s big day is eliminated.

Wedding day coordinator discount - white+white are giving couples getting married this winter a 10% discount off their Wedding Day Coordination service. Call today for your complimentary consultation. www.whitewhite.com.au

Planning snapshot - jen+jeff

I just wanted to share with you one of my bride’s wedding inspiration board. Jen and I have been madly planning her wedding in the weeks leading up to the birth of her first child.

The theme of the wedding is elegant country. Beautiful linens, lime wash tiffany chairs and bud vases hanging from the ceiling are just some of the things we have planned for her reception decor.

Stay tuned for more planning updates!
