Princess Party

We were lucky enough to be involved once again with the Amira Project's Princess Party earlier this year. We had so much fun at Mirra Private Dining last year we went back! The night was once again filled with inspiration, motivational information and fun times designed to enhance the lives of young women from disadvantaged backgrounds.

The night kicked off with some fun activities for the girls. This year, Geraldine from Bouquet Boutique helped the girls create their very own centrepiece. This was a big hit!

The girls also had the opportunity to write down their wishes and dreams on heart shape cut outs and stick them to the famous "Tonight" wall at Mirra in Fortitude Valley.

With hair and make-up artists on hand at the Party, the girls were made to feel like real life princesses.

At the end of the workshop, the girls were then apart of a huge balloon release. Each balloon had attached the dreams and wishes of every girl.

To make the night even more special each of the girls were then escorted into their dining room by a very dapper young gentlemen with a beautiful flower in tow.

The girls were seated at long glamourous styled tables whilst listening to the motivational speakers throughout the night. Big thank you to Amini Concepts for helping us with the table styling.

After dinner concluded, it was time to dance.

At the end of the night, the girls didn't go home empty handed with each of them receiving a bag filled with goodies to help them remember this night forever.

This Princess Party would not of happened without the support of the lovely organisers and volunteers that helped pull together this event for the girls. We look forward to next year's Party!

A Fairytale Wedding

Today we are very excited to be able to share with you the wedding of Kaitlin + Scott! This truly was the fairytale wedding that we all dream of having as little girls from the gorgeous Darb gown and sparkling shoes to the Champagne tower by Free Spirits and a eight tier cake by Cake Star right through to the ballroom reception at Sanctuary Cove which was so stunningly styled by Amini Concepts and filled with glorious Peonies by Bouquet Boutique.

Kaitlin + Scott's guests were utterly spoilt for choice with a signature cocktail bar, a Champagne bar, a cigar + whiskey lounge complete with a cigar expert and whiskey connoisseur for the boys and a powder room complete with a hair stylist + makeup artist for the girls.

Everyone was treated to the loved up couples engagement film by Net Productions and were entertained throughout the night by the ever so suave Swing Central. The whole entire day was magical, which your about to see in the images below captured so beautifully by the amazing Marcus Bell + Adam Finch of Studio Impressions. Enjoy...

Chair Obsession

If you have been following our FB page this week you will know that it's all about chairs this week at w+w! We have been revealing some of our favourite chairs each day along with styling tips and where you can find them. This weeks blog has been reserved for a very special piece...The Peacock Chair!

The Peacock Chair is one of the most ultimate staples of statement furniture with it's architectural scope and exquisite detail. The peacock's silhouette calls to mind glamourous visions of drinking Singapore Slings by the Raffles pool à la 1930's style. Theme your wedding with a wild-child 70's boho chic vibe and paint the chairs in beautiful sorbet colours inspiring stylish fairytale flare and luxe allure or characterise you moroccan style wedding with a natural cane chair against the delightful bold colours of tangerine, magenta, purple and metallics surrounded by moroccan motif patterns.

Peacock chairs can be used to style the registry signing area at your ceremony or the guest book area at the reception. Set in front of a sophisticated backdrop it could simply be used as a prop in your wedding photos or DYI photobooth.

Embrace the extravagance of this chair and ignite your imagination with this very sought after statement decor piece.

Fleur Wood's Food Fashion Friends book has some delicious visual inspiration for your eyes to feast on while the Jan/Feb 2012 issue of Vogue Living has an article on the Peacock chair showing the variety of materials now being used to create the chair against the ever expanding range of this style.

Wedding Trends for 2012

As much as we have loved planning and styling vintage inspired weddings we are anticipating to see a new take on the "VINTAGE WEDDING". A more detailed and carefully curated style with less clutter has emerged. Say good-bye to rustic vintage and hello to old world glamour meets new world sophistication!

Formality is where it's at for design and atmosphere, in 2012 while continuing to incorporate family heirlooms and traditions but you will see less mason jars, tins, vintage suitcases, mis-matched chairs and typewriters.

Regal style is the new flavour infused with rich textures, lots of white (and even some metallics) set in grand traditional settings. Bright, bold colours such as Pantone's SOLAR POWER YELLOW and MARGARITA GREEN are particular favourites of ours along with teals, greys and blush tones which are being seen in the latest craze of colour blocking and ombre techniques.

The hottest trends on designer catwalks are lace, colour, illusion necklines, double tiered skirts and extreme texture with glimmers of embroidered florals and sleeves.

For those of you with a sweet tooth lolly bars are out and dessert tables are in. We've seen gorgeous little structured desserts presented in glasses which would make even the most savoury of tastebuds water, icing sugar dusted doughnuts filled with jam, simply stylishly handmade cookies and the ruffled cake is making quite a sensation.

Bring on 2012 we can't wait to see the Regal style explode onto the wedding scene!

Real Wedding - Mayumi + Steven

What to do with 1000 cranes?

It is good luck in the Japanese culture to fold 1000 cranes before your wedding day and that is exactly what Mayumi + Steven did!

These cranes formed a beautiful crane shower at the couple's wedding. Japanese was also infused in the bon bons. A beautiful Sake Box housed the yummy macaroon which were tied together by traditional Japanese ribbon.

The outdoor riverside ceremony and courtyard reception were filled with pretty vintage touches.

Enjoy...

Thank you to Karen Buckle Photography for these beautiful images and Kristy from Imbue for your florals and styling touches.

Haute Hippie!

We have been really loving boho-hippie chic lately. Could it be the next big style trend we see on the wedding scene....we hope so! After spending the weekend in Byron Bay we have been so inspired and thought we'd share some of our ideas. We see visions of delicate daisy chains and feathered head dresses. Big unstructured bouquets of hand picked flowers straight from a field and masses of candlelight hanging from Moroccan style lanterns. Gypsy style feasts placed upon American Indian patterned rugs, decked out plush deep coloured cushions and mis-matched treasured wares. Style wise if you are wanting that flowing, whimsical touch think uber-boho queen Nicole Richie or perhaps you might like the edgier wild child, psychedelic goddess look of Kate Moss either way we think this is an awesome and unique twist on the already booming vintage look.

Move over lolly bar the gelati bar is here!

Instead of a lolly bar, a fantastic and fun idea for your wedding reception is to add a gelati bar or an ice cream parlour. Whether it's served as a roving dessert for a cocktail party or as a cool treat to everyone on the dance floor later in the evening this delicious and very cute delight will definitely entertain your guests. Let your imagination run wild with how to display or serve them and make it work with the style of your day.
