Making the Menu Your Own

Selecting a menu for your wedding day can be quite a daunting task. With an abundance of catering options from Cocktail, Stand up Plated, Buffet, Shared Banquet or Sit Down to choose from. How can you ever decide?

Think of the age group of your guests attending, as well as the style of food you would normally and be more comfortable eating. Whether it is sitting down and giving yourself the time to enjoy your meal or whether you would like to continue mingling with more finger / fork dish options. It is really a personal choice and can set your wedding apart from the rest. The food is what your guests remember after how beautiful your wedding day was.

For sit down meals on your wedding day, try and choose two meals that people would be happy with as an alternate drop option for example Chicken and Beef or Fish and Lamb, just make sure that one dish does not outweigh the other. Choose meats that your guests would be happy with either choice and choose filling meals that will satisfy the palate and please the appetite not dry and low in flavour.

Always keep in mind, if you are having multiple courses or a variety of meals try and change up the texture, flavours, colours and cooking styles of your menu. Give it your own creative edge, do not be afraid to ask the caterers if you can mix and match menus or meal ideas.

Make the menu your own by choosing the foods that best suit you and give your wedding day that fabulous taste sensation.

Real Wedding - Alisha + Matt

An amazing wonderland was created for Alisha + Matt's wedding reception back in early September. A mad hatter's theme prevailed as a surprise for the guests. The space was fun, colourful, interesting and exciting, while still creating a feel of romance.

A very special mention to Hollie Noonan for her brilliant design concepts.

The Ivy League Look

Ivy League style and Preppy chic are hitting the wedding scene in a big way! Think Fair Isle sweaters, Vineyard Vines ties, Tommy Hilfiger blazers or Ralph Lauren and channel your inner Blair Waldorf from Gossip Girl. Incorporate The "Ivy League Look" in details like plaids, stripes and geometrics in bold bright colours of Navy with Green, Yellow or Fuchsia. A Hamptons or even Cape Cod nautical feel would be a perfect remix of retro, preppy sensibility.

REAL WEDDINGS - Karen + James

This week I am showcasing Karen and James’s wedding which took place in August this year. This wedding was like no other I had done before. Two ceremonies and two receptions on the one day!

Karen looked amazing in her “Darb” dress (James you looked pretty spunky too!) Karen’s dreamy bouquet was made from the talented Roberta at Green & Bloom.

The day began at Bretts Wharf. The happy couple tied the knot in front of 200 guests on the lawn. Whilst guests enjoyed some culinary delights and refreshing drinks on a beautiful winter’s day, Karen and James amongst close family took part in the traditional tea ceremony.

The evening festivities kicked off at Gustos Restaurant at Portside. The black and white stripped linen and styling from Jodie from W.Edding & Co. made the room pop.

The delightful individual cakes were made by Contemporary Cakes and Catering.

The day was captured by Vivid Photography and Playback Productions.
